Ju-ken, 2011

Ju-ken is a Japanese bassist who mostly tours as support for various artists (site, blog). He is also a member of the band Quintillion Quiz (site, blog, twitter, youtube). As of September 1, he has joined the band GLANZ as sHIGe (blog post, Takako blog, ShigE blog, Cherry blog). This post will be updated as the year progresses.

He and Quintillion Quiz both have various fundraisers (benefiting the Japanese Red Cross) for the earthquake victims. JU-KEN × LUTHERIE LEATHER has three wristbands for sale (proceeds going to the Red Cross) (original blog post, Lutherie Leather, site for purchase). Quintillion Quiz is reprinting and reselling their first album as a fundraiser (blog and also have a video on youtube where 1 click = 1 yen donated through April 5 (video, QQ blog, myco blog).

If I’m reading this correctly, he has a column (photo essay?) starting in the April 2011 issue of Bass Magazine (Bass Magazine blog, described as 「お馴染み“熱血ライヴ・ベーシスト”Ju-kenによるフォトエッセイ」). In the June 2011 issue of Bass Magazine, he’s in the “My Dear Bass” feature.

He did some modeling for Rudie’s Autumn and Winter Style.

He did have a solo live for Fender Meets Rude Gallery on Apr 2, but it was canceled due to the earthquake (blog, Fender Meets Rude Gallery, cancellation notice); this was rescheduled for June 18 as a charity event; admission is free but they are accepting donations for the Red Cross (blog, FMRG). Support will be Arly (drums) and DJ Bass (DJ). Post-show summary and pics are at his blog and FMRG.

He played a date with 葵＆涼平 (Aoi & Ryohei) in July (blog). In August, he was in Masaharu Fukuyama’s (福山雅治) “fighting pose” PV (single 「家族になろうよ/fighting pose」 released 8/31).
